Azeez Ishola, PhD
I am a Research Scientist in the Wythe lab studying vascular changes in the brain and knee joint in relation to aging and osteoarthritis. I earned my PhD in Anatomy/Neurobiology from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, where I investigated the neurotoxic effects of Datura metel abuse.
My postdoctoral research at Rutger’s University explored the role of autophagy in cognitive decline and synaptic function, contributing to Alzheimer’s disease models.
My work bridges fundamental neuroscience with translational applications to better understand neurodegeneration and aging.
Research Interests:
Neurovascular aging, neurodegeneration, autophagy, cognitive decline.
