Kandace Moore, B.Sc.
I joined the Wythe lab in Spring 2025 as a BIMS Neuroscience graduate student at the University of Virginia. I previously obtained my bachelor's in Neuroscience from the University of Virginia and completed a Post-baccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In the Wythe lab, I'm interested in looking at the interactions between vascular diseases in the brain and neuro-immune cells.
As an undergraduate, I worked in Dr. John Campbell's lab looking at satiety neurons in the arcuate nucleus of the hypothalamus (Arc) and paraventricular hypothalamus (PVH) and how they regulate feeding behavior. As a PREP student I worked in Drs. Lisa Tarantino and Donita Robinson's labs to understand the role of genetic mechanisms in cocaine use disorder.
I'm excited to be a part of the Wythe lab and hope to gain a better understanding of how vasculature in the brain plays a role in neurological processes and can be manipulated by cellular pathways.
