Wythe Lab Databases

We have invested significant resources to develop open-source laboratory information management systems with molecular biologists in mind. These relational databases are constructed using the FileMaker Pro Advanced application, which can be downloaded for a free month long trial at https://www.filemaker.com/support/downloads/. Below you will find empty databases ready for data entry. Check back often, as we will be adding them as we finish manuscripts describing their development and use. Future releases will deal with plasmids, oligos, antibodies, and mouse colonies. Our first offering is FishNET, which has been published at PLoS Biology. Our second offering is Plasmids, which is part of a preprint (see below). Our mouse database will be coming soon, as well as an antibody database, and cell line resource.

If you need extensive technical support, please contact the first author, Abiud Cantu Gutierrez:

FishNET

FishNET is an intutive, open source, relational database for zebrafish colony management. This FileMaker database requires no coding knowledge, has an intuitive user interface and features automated data entry, bar-coded unique IDs for tanks and fry, a virtual fish facility, pedigree information, as well as a calendar function with automated email reminders for line turnover or setting up crosses. Click below to download an empty shell or read our preprint on FishNET.

After downloading the database, to log in for the administrator enter "Admin" and leave the password field blank/empty.

Our plasmid database is an intuitive, open source, relational database for tracking plasmids and details about vectors (from raw fasta sequence, to cloning details and sequencing primers, to electronic files in APE or snapgene formats, and more) with fields directly comparable to Addgene for easy uploading of your constructs to public repositories. Click below to download and empty shell (and read our preprint below for details regarding using this FileMaker based database). Download a trial version of FileMaker software here first (and then log in as guest once you unzip the file and load it).
